Weekend Race Recap

Saturday:
Monster Jam returned to the RCA Dome in Indianapolis Saturday night bringing with it the wildest show event to ever grace the downtown facility. A sold out crowd watched as monsters, Pro Stadium Trucks and an all truck demo derby kept the action going.

Monster Racing saw some surprises when Tom Meents could not qualify after rolling the truck in the opening ceremonies. Grave Digger spun out on the final turn of his qualification run and dropped to last in the order and a new truck named Bob and Tom took over from the big boys.

“I got a call from Tom Meents asking me if I would consider driving for his team”, said Guy Wood during a pre-event interview. “When I found out it was driving the Bob and Tom truck it was a bonus. I listen to these guys on the radio back in Missouri and now I am part of their team. This is awesome”.

The Bob and Tom Ford did extremely well in its debut event winning the racing part of the show but it cost him a transmission and the truck could not come out for the freestyle competition.

Race Results:
Round One
Predator bye run
Wild Hair over Rap Attack
Brutus over Rolling Thunder
Devastator over Ninja Turtle
Prowler beat Avenger
Bob and Tom over Grave Digger

Round Two
Predator over Wild Hair
Devastator over Brutus
Bob and Tom over Prowler

Semi Final
Predator over fast loser from round two Brutus
Bob and Tom over Devastator

Final
Bob and Tom over Predator

Highlights included Grave Digger missing the turn in round one against Bob and Tom not once but twice when USHRA officals declared the race null and void after a RII problem with the earlier run.

Freestyle was plagued with rollovers, too numerous to count. The rolls included several monsters and several Pro Stadiums, Avenger, Brutus and Wild Hair all rolled in Freestyle. Grave Digger with an awesome save and Maximum Destruction ended the event with not one but two tires blown.

Freestyle Competition Scoring
Rolling Thunder ...19 solid run for the truck
Ninja Turtle ...17 nothing spectacular
Prowler ...21 nice run for Larry Jarzel
Wild Hair ...27 solid run ending with a rollover
Devastator ...15 short run when the truck rolled completely over continued with a blown tire only to catch fire with over :40 left on the clock. Blew a motor
Predator ...28 Allen Pezo had a fantastic run in Indy
Brutus ...14 short run before the truck broke
Avenger ...6 broke after just :10 and that only works in bull riding
Grave Digger ...29 high flying action and more than one save from Randy Brown aboard Digger
Maximum Destruction ...28 a judgement call by the judges, very close with Digger winning by one point.

Pro Stadium Trucks saw General Lee win it all.

A Truck Demo Derby rounded out the night of action.
